but sheÍs no match for an ex-slayer. ItÍs clear that Deb was doing it
for the money and Faith only defends herself. Deb finally goes down and
Eddie, one of the guards, intervenes, knows that Faith was only defending
herself. Another guard holds DebÍs knife, large and bejeweled, definitely
an outside job. In the basement, WesleyÍs conscious is speaking through Lilah. She knows him enough to know that he feels guilty for not saving her from herself. He apologizes and the axe finally hits the mark. At a warehouse, Angelus has followed the scent of the girl only to find the Beast has killed her, using her to lead the evil vampire to him. Angelus takes notice of a knife created out of the BeastÍs own flesh sitting on a box. The Beast reveals that Angelus owes his freedom to his Master. Angelus baits the Beast into a fight and makes it clear that he doesnÍt take orders from a messenger. The Beast strikes out against Angel but misses every time. Angel jumps into the rafters and refuses to cooperate unless he can speak to the Master directly and leaves. A disappointed Cordelia steps out from behind some boxes, upset at the BeastÍs inability to control his anger but if Angelus refuses to play the Beast can have him. She forgives the Beast and then orders him to ñgive Momma some sugar.î They kiss.
At the Hyperion, Lorne chants the final words to the protection spell,
but thereÍs no visible reaction the spell has worked. Connor mouths off
on magic again but this time Lorne tries to hit him with a candlestick.
The candlestick never hits its mark proving the spell has worked. Wes
finally comes up from the basement and finds Cordy is still resting upstairs.
HeÍs determined to save Angel and thereÍs only one person that can help
him. At the penitentiary, Faith walks into the visitorsÍ area with glass walls and phones, surprised that Wes is there to see her. She sees a change in Wes and gives him an appreciate gaze, ñYouÍre lookingƒ..good.î Faith knows about the strange occurrences. Armageddon is here, but she canÍt help, being in prison paying for her crime and all. She changes her mind when Wes reveals that Angelus is back. She asks Wes to step back from the glass and crashes through it. Faith defends herself from the guards but Wes gets the worst of it. She grabs him and jumps out the window, landing on a car. Faith shakes the fall off, checks on Wes who is, ñfive by five.î Both quickly run. Act III:
On the road back, Faith changes her clothes in the back of WesleyÍs SUV,
and he helps her catch up. Angel has a teenage son, Cordy spent the summer
as a divine being, the new crew additions and the sun was blotted out
by the Beast. One good thing is that the police are too busy to worry
about an escapee. They need to get Angelus but the ex-evil slayer makes
it clear that she is not killing him because Angel never gave up on her.
He stops the car and they are attacked by three vamps. Faith dusts two
but not the third since it runs realizing heÍs not going up against a
slayer. Faith is back in the game. At the Hyperion, the crew is surprised when Wes arrives with Faith in tow but Cordy is not one bit welcoming pointing out that she should be in jail. Faith gets down to business and picks Gunn and Connor to join their retrieval party. She makes it clear that Angel is not to be killed. Connor reacts against her take charge attitude but she puts him in his place. He seems to like it and Cordy notices it with a scowl on her face. In an unrecognizable part of Los Angeles, a girl is chased by vampires but Angelus saves her. He turns vamp but before he can make her a meal he overhears a few vamps talking about the slayer being in town, word gets around fast in the demon deadvine. He lets her go and seconds later finds a phone booth and calls Sunnydale. Dawn answers and she confirms that her sister is at home. Angelus hangs up and concludes, ñItÍs the other one.î In an alley, ConnorÍs exceptional tracking skills have led Wes, Gunn and Faith to a spot that was just visited by Angelus. The alley is dark and Faith guides them through it but a surprise vamp is dusted by Connor. Faith is upset that he disobeyed her orders and tells him to go back. They scuffle and she once again puts him in his place with her super strength. Connor finally yields and is escorted by Gunn to the hotel. Minutes later, Wes and Faith continue their hunt and they step into a warehouse to find a ñWelcome Faithî banner from Angelus. She goes up on the roof while Wes continues on the ground. Wes is quickly attacked by AngelusÍs two self-proclaimed lackeys. Up on the roof of the warehouse, Faith jumps inside through a hole in the roof and she hears AngelusÍs voice. He leads her to a spot surrounded my boxes and barrels and finally meets eye to eye with Angelus. He introduces her to the Beast. ItÍs pretty obvious this is a trap made especially for her. Act IV:
At the warehouse, the Beast is annoyed at AngelusÍs little surprise. Faith
does what she does best – fight evil. She attacks with punches and
spin kicks with all her strength but she is no match. The Beast sends
her flying through the air into a large wooden box. Meanwhile, outside the vampires continue their assault on Wesley who defends himself successfully. Faith is fighting a losing battle despite all her efforts and slayer-powers. The Beast slams her against the floor with a loud thump several times like a rag doll. She is bleeding and hurt. Angelus steps in having enjoyed his manipulation of all present enough. He stabs the Beast from behind with his own knife. Painfully, the Beast releases all its energy and returns it to the sun, which lifts the darkness over the city. Outside, the sun shines beautifully and WesleyÍs attackers catch on fire.
Inside the warehouse, the Beast is now a pile of lava. Angelus thinks
heÍs finally in for some prime slayer blood but our girl uses a chain
hitch to break a window bathing her in sunlight. Angelus congratulates
her and walks away, perhaps another day he can have her. At the Hyperion, the crew is celebrating, eyeing the sun from the courtyard. Gunn is finally impressed with Faith who hasnÍt returned yet. Cordy is still upstairs resting in her room and Connor runs up to share the good news. In CordyÍs bedroom, Connor is brimming with happiness at FaithÍs abilities, the first slayer he has met. But, Cordy has other news, and places his hand over her belly to reveal that they are going to be parents. Connor is stunned. She whispers, ñWeÍre connected now,î and she kisses him. ñYou and me foreverî and they fall back on the bed with more kisses.
